The 12th EDiLiC Conference invites submissions for symposia, workshops, and posters exploring theoretical perspectives, empirical research, pedagogical practices, educational policies, and teacher education initiatives related to pluralistic approaches, in both formal and non-formal educational contexts. Proposals must be bilingual, i.e. in one of the network’s two languages (English or French) and another language.
Contributions may address, among other themes, the relationships between pluralistic approaches, teacher education, curricula and language education policies, artificial intelligence, artistic and multimodal practices, and education for sustainable development. They may also examine how these approaches contribute to thinking about schooling, issues of citizenship, social and linguistic justice, in connection with the recognition of knowledge diversity and the plurality of epistemologies at work in educational contexts.
Particular attention will be given to current developments and emerging directions in the field, trough an examination of existing practices, their contributions, and their limitations with regard to teachers, learners, and contemporary educational contexts. The congress aims in particular to foster in-depth reflection on the social implications of choices made in plurilingual and intercultural education, as well as on the ways in which pluralistic approaches continue to evolve and to spread through research and teacher education.
Thematic strands of the congress are as follows:
1. Recent developments in the four pluralistic approaches brought together by the FREPA: Awakening to Languages, Integrated Didactics Approach to Languages, Teaching Intercomprehension between Related Languages, and Intercultural Education — as well as their connections with related approaches, with an emphasis on building bridges between languages, the role of learners’ plurilingual repertoires, and links to disciplines
2. Teacher education, curricula, and language education policies: Design of programmes and educational policies integrating pluralistic approaches; pedagogical frameworks attentive to linguistic and cultural diversity and to it contributions to learning, in connection with teacher well-being and the creation of inclusive learning environments.
3. Artificial intelligence and plurilingual and intercultural education: pedagogical potential, ethical implications, and the impact of digital tools and AI on teaching practices and language learning processes
4. Artistic, aesthetic, and multimodal approaches: visual arts, theatre, music, storytelling, and digital media as spaces for creativity, participation, biographical expression, and meaning-making within plurilingual education
5. Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and pluralistic approaches: contributions of plurilingual education to ecological awareness, social responsibility, eco-citizenship, and global citizenship in the face of global challenges
